Blue Jays pitcher Roberto Osuna's next hearing set for Aug. 1

Roberto Osuna’s defense team has been granted more time to prepare for his court hearing.

The judge presiding over the case in Toronto allowed after a brief court session Monday for a new hearing to take place on Aug. 1.

The Blue Jays pitcher’s lawyer appeared on his behalf and will do so again for the August hearing.

Osuna was arrested in May in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident. He originally was placed on administrative leave for seven days starting May 8, but the leave was extended five more times.

MLB finally suspended him 75 games retroactive to May 8.

Osuna appeared in 15 games for the Jays this season, posting a 2.93 ERA and 1.109 WHIP.
