De Goti's homer leads Corpus Christi to 3-2 win over Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Alex De Goti hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning, leading the Corpus Christi Hooks to a 3-2 win over the Tulsa Drillers on Saturday.

The home run by De Goti capped a three-run inning and gave the Hooks a 3-2 lead after Randy Cesar scored on a ground out earlier in the inning.

In the bottom of the first, Tulsa scored on a triple by Yusniel Diaz that brought home Errol Robinson. In the following at-bat, Connor Joe hit an RBI single, scoring Diaz to give the Drillers a 2-0 lead.

Kit Scheetz (1-0) got the win with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Dylan Baker (3-3) took the loss in the Texas League game. Riley Ferrell retired the side in order for his fourth save of the season.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Yusniel Diaz hit a two-run single in the seventh inning, leading the Tulsa Drillers to a 4-3 win over the Corpus Christi Hooks on Friday. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Drillers and a five-game winning streak for the Hooks.

Ariel Hernandez got Randy Cesar to hit into a double play with runners on first and third to end the game for his third save of the season.

The single by Diaz capped a three-run inning and gave the Drillers a 4-3 lead after Zach Reks scored on a forceout earlier in the inning.

The Hooks went up 3-1 when Josh Rojas hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Alex De Goti in the fourth.

Logan Ondrusek (1-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Corpus Christi starter Framber Valdez (2-2) took the loss in the Texas League game.

Perez, Rojas carry Corpus Christi to 9-2 win over Midland

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Josh Rojas homered and had two hits, driving in three, and Cionel Perez threw five scoreless innings as the Corpus Christi Hooks beat the Midland RockHounds 9-2 on Thursday.

Perez (2-1) allowed three hits while striking out seven and walking one to pick up the win.

Corpus Christi batted around in the third inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring six runs, including a three-run home run by Randy Cesar.

The Hooks later added two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth. In the sixth, Rojas hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Taylor Jones, while Rojas hit a solo home run in the eighth.

Kyle Friedrichs (2-2) went 2 2/3 innings, allowing six runs and five hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out three and walked two.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Ryne Birk had five hits, while Stephen Wrenn and Taylor Jones recorded three apiece as the Corpus Christi Hooks defeated the Frisco RoughRiders 11-3 on Friday.

Birk singled five times, driving in two runs. Wrenn singled three times, scoring three runs.

Corpus Christi got on the board first with a run in the fourth inning. After hitting a double, Yordan Alvarez scored on a double by Jones.

After Corpus Christi added five runs in the fifth, the RoughRiders cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Hunter Cole hit a three-run home run.

The Hooks later added two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to punctuate the blowout.

Corpus Christi southpaw Ryan Hartman (1-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings. Opposing starter Wes Benjamin (0-2) took the loss in the Texas League game after a rough outing in which he allowed five runs and six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Kevin Hill pitched three scoreless innings for his first save of the season.

Corpus Christi took advantage of some erratic Frisco pitching, drawing a season-high eight walks in its victory.

Eliezer Alvarez reached base three times for the RoughRiders.
