Things just keep getting worse for the reeling New York Mets and their struggling third baseman, Todd Frazier.

The Mets placed Frazier on the 10-day disabled list Monday with a strain of his left rib cage. Manager Mickey Callaway told reporters Frazier sustained the injury during an at-bat Sunday against Tampa Bay.

The Mets recalled Ty Kelly from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill in for Frazier.

The Mets are playing Philadelphia in a doubleheader on Monday, and Jose Reyes will start in Frazier’s spot at third base in Game 1.

On the year, Frazer is batting .217 with 10 homers and 32 RBIs.

The Mets entered play Monday at 35-51, in fourth place in the National League East, 13 1/2 games behind division co-leaders Philadelphia and Atlanta.

The team also optioned right-hander Chris Flexen to Las Vegas and recalled left P.J. Conlon.
