Hours after getting spurned by prized free agent Kirk Cousins, the Jets agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal with veteran Josh McCown, according to a source.
It was the ultimate no-brainer for Gang Green, who will look to McCown to provide the same stability on and off the field that he did last season.
The 15-year veteran set career highs in passing yards, touchdowns, completion percentage and starts in his first season with the Jets. He quickly became the team’s undisputed leader, a respected veteran voice in a locker room looking for direction. McCown, 38, will be a terrific mentor for the quarterback that the Jets are expected to draft in the first round.
