FORT MYERS, FL – Rick Porcello surrendered four runs over four innings Sunday afternoon as the Boston Red Sox fell to the Baltimore Orioles, 7-3, at JetBlue Park in Grapefruit League play.

The Orioles pounced on Porcello early, plating two runs runs in the top of the first on RBI singles by Colby Rasmus and Chance Sisco.

After a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first by Mookie Betts drew the Red Sox within 2-1, Hanley Ramirez plated Betts on an RBI single in the bottom of the third to knot the game at 2-2.

Baltimore would strike for a pair of runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Alex Presley to go ahead, 4-2.

Eduardo Nunez produced a run in the bottom half of the inning, driving home Rafael Devers on a fielder’s choice to make it a 4-3 game, but the Red Sox’ bats would go quiet the rest of the way.

Ryan Mountcastle capped the Orioles’ offensive barrage with a three-run home run off Edgar Jimenez in the top of the ninth. Baltimore banged out 13 hits in the win.

Red Sox relief pitchers Carson Smith and Heath Hembree both saw action and recorded hitless innings.
